The games industry is great. Developers talk to the gamers, gamers see their feedback implemented, and a much better appreciation from many of the developers themselves (ignoring the publishers) for their customer base. I don't really see that in any other digital entertainment industry. There are many great examples of this, but Gearbox has recently provided us with another example to back up this point.
Destructoid are reporting on a story about a Borderlands fan who wrote to Gearbox about his friends passing (Michael Mamaril), also a Borderlands fan and Gearbox replied with a rather nice tribute via the character Claptrap in which they mention Michael Mamaril, will be given an NPC in Borderlands 2 as a tribute. Listen to their tribute here.
