BBC News - US Republican hopeful Romney rejects same sex marriage

BBC News - US Republican hopeful Romney rejects same sex marriage.

Days after President Obama expressed his support for same sex unions, his likely challenger, Mitt Romney, has said marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

Mr Romney, a Mormon, was given a standing ovation by graduates at Liberty University, a Christian college in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He has so far struggled to gain support from evangelical Christians in his campaign for the Republican ticket.

This absolutely amazes me. In the video at the link, Romney talks about "the free exercise of religious faith" being treated as a "problem". Yes, of course it is a problem. It is a problem when you decide that this idea is about allowing certain people to push their religious faith on others.

Why should the entire country be under the influence of the morality and beliefs of others? When you are President of the United States, you usually bang on about the 'freedom', 'individual liberty' and 'equality' of your country, and why it is important. But this seems like the absolute opposite to that.
