Scottish Highlands - February 2025
Back in February, we spent a few days in the Scottish Highlands. A first for me, and I regret waiting so long to go.
I won't be doing a day-by-day recount on this, I spent way too much time rambling in the last post.. and this is just a small selection of photos and videos I took.

Steall Waterfall, apparently it's in Harry Potter - but I can't recall seeing it. I'll look out for it on the next rewatch. The hike from the car park to the waterfall was enjoyable.
This drone footage turned out pretty poor, very dull and generally quite washed out.

Highland coos! These were in an open field on the drive away from Steall waterfall car park. Thankfully friendly and happy to pose for photos.

The three sisters of Glen Coe. A pretty busy stop, the dusting of snow adds a nice element to this.

Next up, the Isle of Skye.

The first photo is from some random stop off on the road towards Skye, the rest are from a convenient stop just before the Skye Bridge. The scenery along the roads all around the highlands is incredible, but Skye really took it up a notch. It's a shame we don't have many photos from the car.
Also pictured: our rented VW California camper from Four Seasons Campers. We stayed one night in it, the rest we stayed in hotels because Sonia was a bit sick. Even though we didn't sleep it in much, we very much enjoyed the convenience of it during the day - preparing lunches, having a fridge, loads of space to relax and get setup for our walks.
It was also really comfortable and enjoyable to drive around the highlands. As someone with a bad back and knee, it was probably the most comfortable I've ever been driving long distances.

Before heading to our hotel for the night, we visited the 'fairy pools' - they're pretty cool, but I feel sound better than they actually are. Still an enjoyable walk in great surroundings.
The hotel we stayed at was the Skeabost House Hotel on Skye, I only mention this because it really was quite nice - in a great location and great service. Worth considering.

Next day, a hike up The Storr. The highlight of the trip i'd say, a very popular attraction and for good reason.

And some final drone shots on the way out of Skye:

Our last day was mostly driving from Oban to Loch Lomond, where we returned our camper to.

This was broadly our route, ignoring detours for particular stops.
A really great trip, incredible landscapes, great people and surprisingly good weather. Mostly perfectly sunny, clear skies and not too cold or windy.
We could have planned the route a bit better, but we'll definitely be making many more trips back to the Scottish highlands.
